Hydrogen is set to be the cleanest and most flexible fuel after many trials the latest discovery shows that Hydrogen gas can be safely stored in glass at very high pressures. Experiments have proven that C.En Ltd's system has already surpassed the US Department of Energy's (DOE) 2010 target for hydrogen storage technologies. According to the Air Resource Board (ARB)Independent Panel of Experts, (advising the State of California), no other technology is expected to meet these goals in the near future. This makes Hydrogen storage and generation a clear winner for environmental sustainability.

 

Enabling Technology

Using a high powered scientific team from Russia, Germany and Israel C.En Ltd have created a world beating technology in their Hydrogen storage device. Comprising a collection of glass capillary arrays and a release controlling component contained in a durable polymer casing the Hyrdogen Battery is truely a revolutionary device.

Effective Hydrogen Storage Method

Hydrogen is absorbed within the glass when applied at pressures in excess of 1000 Bar. After the pressure is released the concerntrated Hydrogen remains safe, literaly, within the glass. To release the Hydrogen and realise the energy, at a controlled rate, from the glass a proprietary control device is used. In combination with a Fuel Cell this controlled release can provide 10 times the electrical power for the same size traditional battery.

Calculations (of capillary structures, pressure durability etc) indicate that the technology will meet the American DOE's 2015 targets in the near future.

Development, at a specially built state-of-the-art laboratory, BAM (Germany) was able to demonstrate that “… C.En's technology has a gravimetric storage capacity of 33 wt% and a volumetric capacity of 45 g/L. (and that is a "breakthrough")

The possibilities are both deep, Wide and global. It has already been estimated that the breakthrough technology will usher-in a revolution in transportation, infrastructure, manufacturing and electronics, and a transition to mass production of hydrogen cars and other equipments on a whole range of scales.
